Hundreds Perform in NY Virtual Band

Congratulations to the approximately 300 high school students who submitted their videos to perform in the 2020 New York State Field Band Conference Virtual Band. The ensemble featured students from dozens of schools in the conference, performing my arrangement of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind,” with percussion parts by Dr. Jeff Grant. My thanks to conference President Casey Vanderstouw for engaging me in this project, to the directors who worked with their students to support the project, and to the students themselves for working to keep making music in these challenging times. I want to give especial plaudits to the seniors who took part in this project! Bravi tutti!
